Overlooked in 2014: Mighty Mystic’s “Concrete World.”

Listen, I know we need to step up our reggae coverage. There is so much going on in this town and we haven’t scratched the surface. This post is the second in our Overlooked in 2014 series.

Born in Jamaica but raised in Boston, Mighty Mystic has been recording reggae music since 2010. With two full-lengths and an EP under his belt, he’s shared tracks with folks like Shaggy and Elephant Man. His 2014 release “Concrete World” is 14 tracks of roots reggae, rocksteady, with some dancehall and pop edge. The vibe of the record is a rejection of materialism and consumerism and a call for love and positivity. Mighty Mystic spoke about the Album with the Connecticut Post: “We’re getting so hard in our ways that we’ve forgotten what really matters. It’s not our cars or our phones — it’s friends and family and the Earth and Heaven that really matters.”

Mighty Mystic has a slew of music videos in support of this record including “Concrete World” and “Happy.” You can watch those two below and find more on his YouTube Channel. He next performs locally on February 7 at Paradise Rock Club with New Kingston, Nomad-I. You can pick up “Concrete World” on Amazon and iTunes and stream it on Spotify.
