Back in November, we announced a collaboration with other Boston music websites called the Boston Scene Party. We also started a partnership with Sound Lion, a retail concept store offering premium quality sound gear, including headphones and speakers for fans, DJs, and audiophiles alike. For the past three months, their Cambridge location has featured a local musical artist, handpicked by a member of the Boston Scene Party.
April 2015 is ours and we’ve chosen ska/rocksteady act The New Limits as our band of the month. Formed in 2012, this band composed of veteran musicians has already shared the stage with such acts as Westbound Train, The Allstonians, Bim Skala Bim, The Beatdown, and Deal’s Gone Bad. This summer, they’ll support New York City ska stalwarts The Slackers for their annual Boat Cruise around the Boston Harbor on July 17.
They released their debut EP entitled “Pressure Up” this past January. The EP gives a taste of the band’s sound, touching on ska, rocksteady, two-tone, and big band. The EP is available now from iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Emusic, Spotify, and Bandcamp. The physical CD will be available exclusively at Sound Lion in Harvard Square for the month of April. Each month, the artist of the month perform in-store at Sound Lion. They’ll perform in a very special acoustic style Friday, April 24, 8pm at Sound Lion in Harvard Square. RSVP to the Facebook Event. The New Limits features an 4-piece horn section so it’s any guess how we’ll fit everyone in there.
