Look, we get it. Cars are difficult. Between parts, maintenance, and insurance, ownership of a vehicle can often just be an awful mess that thins your wallet considerably. And then we’ve all surely had the experience of owning a car with something like a coolant leak, that shoots smoke liberally out the hood of your car and makes it look like a big dumb sputtering dragon, and creates a crowd of worried onlookers shouting “FIRE!” everywhere you go, until you finally just decide to get inspired by your least favorite Disney song and drive that car into the ground by not feeding any fluid into it, and even when you’re absolutely sure there’s no more coolant in there, it still manages to leak something everywhere, forcing you to get down on your hands and knees and ask Andrew W.K. or Lil B or whomever you pray to to either end your suffering or just send you a midsize luxury sedan in the mail already (we know its totally cliche, but we’re trying to go for the broad experiences that everyone can relate to).

We here at Bostonska think that this year’s Skanksgiving is the right reason to find a car, and quick (we don’t really condone auto theft, but we tend to not ask questions when we hear that your new car “fell off the back of a truck”). On Saturday, November 15th, Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey will be hosting it’s annual event, which features The Slackers, The Pietasters, Mephiskapheles, and local favorites Westbound Train. Also on the bill are Avon Junkies and Backyard Superheroes.

This news is interesting, as last year’s event was spread across two nights and featured twice as many bands. Regardless, this show is definitely a must-see for New England ska fans. Tickets are $17 in advance, and $20 at the doors, and can be found via the Starland Ballroom’s ticket gateway. As of today tickets are still on sale, but given the big names attached and this year’s single, more concentrated show, we expect tickets to not be available for much longer.
