We Are The Union Launch Kickstarter and Debut Video for New Video

One of our favorite ska-core bands We Are The Union has launched a kickstarter to fund a new record. “Self-Care” will be the band’s first album since the 2012 release “You Can’t Hide The Sun.” The Kickstarter very quickly surpassed $10,000 in support and I anticipate this one will reach it’s funding deadline of September 14. The band’s last overall release was a 2015 EP entitled “Keep It Down.”

Fans can get in at the $10 level, but you’ll need to chip in at least $30 to get the vinyl. My favorite package aptly titled “I only like the old stuff” gets you their first release “Who We Are” on vinyl. Packages range all the way to $500 and include the usual array of merch, personal thank you’s, and extend into personalized covers and original songs. Not bad!

To thank fans for their enthusiasm, the band posted a lyric video this weekend for “A Better Home,” the first song we’ll get to enjoy from the upcoming release.

We Are The Union – “A Better Home” – Lyric Video

I first became at fan of We Are The Union in 2008 or 2009. They further gained my respect in when I saw them perform at O’Brien’s Pub in Allston in April 2017 and were one of the few majority-white bands to openly chew out Trump and remind the audience that we have an obligation to ensure that the most marginalized people are safe and supported in our country.

Watch the band’s Kickstarter pitch below.

We Are The Union has tour dates scheduled but nothing all to local at the moment. We’ll let you know when they come back to the area.
