Westbound Train Returns to Middle East; New Music on the Way

Westbound Train November 22 at the Middle East Upstairs

The last time Westbound Train played Boston was on a boat this summer. It was a very cool affair but it was 21+ and on the pricey. They’re other high profile show this summer was the Apple Stomp, but this meant they had a short, festival-length set and we know getting to NYC wasn’t an option for everyone. Catch videos below.

This Friday, November 22nd, they return to land for a late night show at the intimate Middle East Upstairs. This party begins at 10pm so expect the show to start immediately. It’s only $12 in advance (plus $3.81 in service fees per ticket) and it’s an 18+ show. Join the Facebook Event and buy your tickets, I imagine this will sell out the night of, if not in advance. Supporting the evening will be new ska/rocksteady/reggae act The New Limits. The New Limits take their inspiration from bands like The Slackers, The Toasters, and of course Westbound Train.

UPDATE 11/19/13 10:15 AM: The Screw-Ups have been added to the bill! This party just got better. Here’s a track of theirs:

If you’ve been following the band, you might not know they were in this studio recording new music! The band, mostly lead singer Obi Fernandez, documented the recording with Instagram video. Watch the video here on Storify. On the new music front, Westbound Train also contributed a track to the compilation Music Unites – Reggae Around the World, Vol 1 released August of this year. Music Unites is a nonprofit dedicated to bringing music education to underprivileged children in underfunded inner city school systems. Their track brings some instrumental ska to the mix and you can stream it here:
