Legendary British ska revivalists The Specials announced yesterday that they’ll be stopping by the House of Blues Boston on July 11, 2013. It’s the latest date added on their March 2013 tour which included a stop at South by Southwest.

You might read that they won’t have their original line up, as was the case on their 2010 USA tour, lacking Keyboardist Jerry Dammers among others. Neville Staple will not be joining their 2013 tour due to health concerns. I would not let this stop you from seeing them. I caught them in New York City in 2010 at Terminal 5 and it was a great show, especially having never seen them. The Specials had been one of those bands I’d resolved that I would never see. I highly recommend grabbing tickets as soon as they go on sale.

The Specials last released a live album called More … Or Less The Specials Live last August, featuring a selection of performances from their 2011 European tour.

When was the last time The Specials played in Boston? Have you seen them before? How do you feel about the line up? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

Tickets go on sale April 19. Watch this page for a link. No opening acts announced as of yet.

UDATE 4/16/13 6:45 PM: And we have a ticketing link! Tickets are $35-45 plus fees and go on sale Friday, June 19 at 10am.

UPDATE 7/11/13 1:15 PM: Opening the show will be Little Hurricane, “a dirty blues/rock outfit from San Diego, CA.” Listen to Tunes below. Be sure to check out the pre-show and post-show party in the Foundation Room hosted by the Version City Tour.
