Florida Ska Band The Duppies Tour New England in Support of New Record

Back in May we reported on a kickstarter campaign for a new album from The Duppies out of Gainesville, FL. We dropped the ball on the follow up because that album was released in June via Citrus Records. “Broken Organ” boasts 14 tracks of high energy ska and rocksteady. The album kicks off with uptempo traditional ska beats, dance numbers, and peppy horns. The middle of the record shifts focus the grooves and the rocksteady. The album features cameos from Dave Hillyard (The Slackers) and Derron Nuhfer (Less Than Jake). I haven’t picked out which tunes feature these veteran sax players but I’m still on my first listen and there are many more listens to come.

The Duppies pay a rare visit to New England this weekend. Their North East Invasion Tour closes out with stops in CT and RI. There’s no Boston stop this round which should be a call to action to show promoters (ourselves included) in the area. The good news is that every other stop is a short drive away.
