The Steady Beat Podcast is a new series from the folks behind the long-running Ska Crazy Podcast. Based out of Pennsylvania, Ska Crazy has provided fans with 72 episodes of everything under the ska umbrella. This new series will take a more focused approach spinning songs that are “Strikkly Sixties” and “Strikkly Jamaican,” early reggae, rocksteady, skinhead reggae, and ska. This podcast joins a long list of really great ska podcasts. Some of my favorites include Go Feet Radio out of New Zealand, Roots Rock Rebel out of Montreal, and 23min of Ska, all helping to introduce fans to great new music. We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the local Mutiny on the Microphone, focusing on music from the New England area, very often including ska tunes. The first episode of the Ska Crazy Podcast can be streamed below. I suggest subscribing with iTunes, Podomatic, or your favorite podcast player so you always know when an episode is on the air.
Here’s the track list for their debut episode.

Picture On The Wall – Phyllis Dillon
Soulful I – Sound Dimension
Boom Shaka Laka – Hopeton Lewis

If you like what you hear on the Steady Beat Podcast, I highly recommend tuning into Generoso’s Bovine Ska and Rocksteady. While not a podcast specifically, DJ Generoso is on WMBR every Tuesday at midnight and episodes are available to stream for two weeks from their website. In the days of shuffle, Spotify, and YouTube, there’s something all the more special about handing over the keys to knowledgeable DJs to choose the tunes.
