Long-time running Gainesville, FL ska/punk band Less Than Jake announced earlier this week that they would be joining the 2014 Warped Tour. At this time they’re the only ska band on the tour but it’s early yet. Warped Tour visits Massachusetts on July 10th at the Xfinity Center (formerly the Comcast Center) in Mansfield. Tickets are on sale now and stay at about $30. Once again, there is bus transportation available leaving from a variety of cities in Massachusetts, costing you another $20 for the round trip. The Boston stop is South Station and sounds worth it to avoid traffic. To hype the announcement the band produced the video above.
Less Than Jake last played in Boston in November of 2013 and the same day they released their most recent album “See The Light,” returning to Fat Wreck for the release. If you haven’t yet heard it, the album is great and is sure to please long time Less Than Jake fans. They continue to perfect their sound, getting better at being the best Less Than Jake. “See the Light” is available from Fat Wreck, Interpunk, and direct from the band (you’ll need to head to the band’s store for the vinyl). It’s well worth it.
For those who already have the record, I highly recommend listening to the commentary track available on Spotify. The band talks over all of the tracks discussing the back stories and the songwriting process. It’s like audio liner notes and it’s great. There’s also a track-by-track discussion on Alternative Press worth checking out.
I hadn’t planned on heading to Warped this year. Between the addition of Less Than Jake, Teenage Bottlerocket, and Mixtapes, it’s time to reconsider. Will you be going to Camp Warped Tour this summer? Let us know why or why not in the comments!
