NJ pop-punk/ska band Survay Says! are prepping for their upcoming European tour in support of Goldfinger by playing an ongoing string of dates throughout the Northeast. This Friday will bring the band to the News Cafe in Pawtucket, Rhode Island to play an intimate set for their first appearance at the venue in several years. Opening for Survay will be Maine’s ska/punk/greatsettadudes Sonic Libido (check out the band’s release-heavy Bandcamp page), Rhode Island reggae/ska act The Eradicates (whom also have a Bandcamp with several single songs available for name-your-price downloading), and Providence, RI pop-punk band/TV on the Radio song Halfway Home (if you weren’t sensing the pattern here, check out their latest 4-song EP released late last year on their Bandcamp).

Put on by Rhode Island Ska Productions, the show is all ages with a $8 cover and starts at 9 pm with doors at 8. The News Cafe is located at 43 Broad St. in Pawtucket, RI, and though it is a relatively intimate venue there is still enough of an atmosphere (and not to mention inexpensive drinks) to facilitate a great show (not to mention the scene-setting checkerboard floor, which probably exists but could just as easily be something I hallucinated during my last time there but is nonetheless a solid selling point). Check out the event’s Facebook event page for more info.
