Mighty Mighty BossToneS Celebrate Dicky Barrett’s Birthday at City Hall with Gaslight Anthem

Mighty Mighty Bosstones | Boston City Hall Plaza | Gaslight AnthemThis summer, Mighty Mighty Bosstones’ lead vocalist Dicky Barrett will turn 50. To celebrate his birthday, bassist Joe Gittleman planned a surprise party for him at Boston City Hall Plaza on Saturday, June 21st. Supporting the show will be The Gaslight Anthem and Barrence Whitfield and the Savages.

Given the success of last year’s performance at the Outside the Box festival, it’s makes perfect sense to do something like it again. Outside the Box, however, will not return to Boston until 2015. This show will actually be part of the Phantom Gourmet BBQ & Music Festival, running from June 20-22, which according to Boston.com, brings “BBQ creators from all over the country and as far as Australia to present their foods to attendees.” Learn more about the Phantom Gourmet.

In an email to fans, the always personable bassist Joe Gittleman said, “The BossToneS and I are super excited to be throwing this party and we hope you will join in on the fun!”

Unlike Outside the Box, this will not be a free affair, but it looks like you gain access to more than just the concert. Tickets go on sale to the general public at noon EST on Friday, April 11, and look like they start at $39. There will be a VIP ticket which gets food and drink. As ReadJunk points out, if you’re on the Bosstones mailing list, you can get tickets before the general public.
