The New Limits Cover The Slackers’ “Tonight” Without a Drum Kit (Oops)

The story goes like this. Boston ska band The New Limits had a rehearsal. They showed up to the rehearsal studio to find out that they (Jake, really) had not actually booked the room. Oops. They make the best of the situation by finding an empty living room with accommodating neighbors and try to rehearse. However, they don’t have things like microphones, a PA system, or—the most glaring —a drum kit. Refusing to let that all get them down, they hold a rehearsal anyways and this impromptu cover of The Slackers’ classic “Tonight” happened.

The New Limits recently celebrated their 10th anniversary and are currently in the studio recording new music.

MUSIC VIDEO – Mr. Ice – “Moving On”

Boston-based Reggae artist Mr. Ice is starting the new year off strong, releasing a video for his song “Moving On”, the title track of his most recent album. The video is a nice showcase of Boston, as it shows Mr. Ice (given name Gregory Whitehead) traveling through Central and Harvard Square. The track itself is a standout within contemporary reggae, with interesting vocal manipulations happening especially in the song’s second half.

Originally hailing from Jamaica, Mr. Ice has been performing his own blend of reggae and dancehall music since 1997. Ice worked as a longtime radio host for both Jamaica 91.7’s “Our Views of RastafarI” and New York Linkage Radio 101.5, before leaving in 2013 to devote his time solely to his music. With the help of the Italian-based Greezzly Productions, Mr. Ice released Moving On to spread his lifelong message of positivity.

Moving On was released at the front end of 2015 and is available for purchase via Amazon and iTunes. Check out the title track’s video, via Reggaeville:

Jeff Rosenstock Premieres “Hall Of Fame” Video

Professional League of Legends player Jeff Rosenstock has premiered the video for “Hall Of Fame” off this year’s siqq We Cool? (check out our review of that shit right here). The lo-fi video is a send-up of public access television, and involves a (fittingly) lower-budget version of the Swedish Chef getting his comeuppance in the T.V. show hosting world. As i always say, come for the tunes, stay for the suit-jacket/basketball shorts combination.
